Army Chinooks from Fairbanks

posted Jan 12, 2016, 6:26 PM by jae chip   [ updated Jan 12, 2016, 6:39 PM by Marian Harris ]

2 Army Chinooks made a precautionary landing at the airport today. It was quite a sight. About a dozen plus or so people gathered around to watch them land, hover, and taxi over. They were a crew from Fairbanks. They had spent the night in Medford, fuel stop in Chico, flew past the Golden Gate Bridge, and were on their way to Fresno then onto Edwards. However, over KHAF, they had some alerts on one of their engines, so they decided to land to take a look. Apparently, it was fine, and they took off again and went on their way.

Volunteers for Seabird Protection Network Photo Shoot

posted Sep 29, 2015, 2:16 PM by jae chip   [ updated Sep 29, 2015, 2:17 PM by Marian Harris ]

Mai Maheigan with NOAA asked if there would be any volunteers for a photo shoot opportunity. They are looking for pilot photos with airplane, helicopter or just airport backgrounds to feature as pilot examples of those who are aware of marine wildlife and use informed and safe flying practices along the coast, to inspire others in the pilot community to do the same. Please contact her directly at mai.maheigan<at>noaa.gov.
